General Duties

The Winter Public Works Laborer is a part-time seasonal position that assists staff with snow removal activities throughout the city by shoveling, snow blowing, or plowing sidewalks and parking lots. Also assists in maintaining ice rink and operates light equipment.

Work schedule would be on an as needed basis determined by snow or ice events. Typical work shift is overnight hours from 1:00 am – 9:00 am but can vary. This is a seasonal position that will last no longer than 5 months.

Minimum Requirements

• Ability to operate equipment including pickup trucks with plow, tractors with various attachments, and small engine equipment.
• Ability to perform light mechanical maintenance.
• Ability to lift heavy objects, walk and stand for long periods and to perform strenuous physical labor under adverse environmental conditions.
• Ability to lift 50 pounds.

Minimum Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Valid Class D MN driver’s license and good driving record.
• Demonstrated ability to operate light equipment proficiently.
